All parties continue to help flood victims in Thai South

NAKHON SI THAMMARAT, April 5 (TNA) - Flood levels in southern Thailand have subsided in many areas, although flooding is still possible in the region.

Residents in the three provinces of Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung and Surat Thani, especially those living near mountains, are being warned of potential floods. The Meteorological Department states it will rain in the South and flash floods are expected over the next few days. It also predicts rains and strong winds in other regions, as a moderate high-pressure area from China reached Thailand.

The Transport Company will resume all its bus services in the South on Tuesday, while Nakhon Si Thammarat airport will also reopen.

Floodwaters in the heart of Nakhon Si Thammarat were subsiding but deep water remains at Tharat Zoo and a local park. Drainage there is expected to take over a week.

Staff at the zoo had to bring in a team of veterinarians to capture an escaped tiger using anesthetic. They also moved ostriches and emus to higher ground. (TNA)
