RI, IRAN COOPERATE IN YOUTH AFFAIRS
Jakarta, Aug 27 (ANTARA) - The governments of Indonesia and Iran have signed a memorandum of understanding on youth affairs cooperation such as exchanges of youth visits and information between the two countries.
The MoU was signed by Indonesian Youth and Sports Affairs Minister Adhyaksa Dault and Iranian Vice President Haj Ali Akbari at the minister's office here on Wednesday.
Minister Dault said that the two countries' youths would exchange visits and cooperate in the development of youth centers and youth experts as well as other cooperation such as in traditional sports development.
The minister said that the cooperation was expected to serve as an embryo of both nations' youth cooperation in fighting injustice and greed so that peace and prosperity would be created.
In the meantime, Ali Akbari said that he was happy with his visit to Indonesia where he had meetings with students and youths at two universities.
"I found that Indonesian youths are civilized, smart and respectful," he said.
He said that Indonesia had a bright future because it had potential youths.
Akbari said that Indonesian youths wanted both nations to continue expanding their cooperation, in the field of youth affairs in particular.
He said that the MoU was a starting point for both countries to build better youth relations, hoping that Indonesian youths would visit Iran to observe Iran more closely.
In the meantime, Dault said that he also had also close relations with Iranian Ambassador to Indonesia Behrooz Kamalvandi.
The ambassador has visited the minister three times at his office.
"Please tell the Iranian president that we want the ambassador to be 'detained' (his term of office be extended) here longer," Dault told Akbari to the applause of the audience.
