Attack on PRT in Najaf
Najaf (NINA) – The American Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) in Najaf said that its convoy was attacked for the fifth time in last five weeks.
A statement issued on Monday, Apr. 4, by PRT in Najaf said that one of its convoys was attacked while on its way back from a meeting with commanders of Iraqi security in Najaf, when an improvised explosive device went off, but the attempted attack failed in damaging any of the convoy's vehicles and no casualties reported among the American force.
It added, "This was the fifth attack the American forces are subjected to in Najaf during the last five weeks, pointing out that the improvised explosive device went off when the convoy was in the outskirts of Najaf."
In its statement PRT said, "The American force was able to identify the suspected attacker who fled disappearing amid a crowd."
