Maliki: Iraq has gone long way in achieving security, political stability

Baghdad (NINA) – Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki said, "Iraq has gone long way in establishing security and political stability, as well as solving all out standing issues that affect its security and stability, especially with neighboring countries." He pointed out to, "Progress in the talks with Kuwait toward solving all outstanding issues."

A statement issued on Monday, Apr. 4, by the Prime Minister's Office said that the Prime Minister met with heads of European diplomatic missions to Iraq.

In the meeting, Maliki pointed out to, "the presence of some organizations that represent a threat to Iraq's security, their presence contradicts the Constitution and Iraq's efforts to establish relations based on non interference in domestic affairs, as well as common interests of all countries, especially the neighboring ones."

He called on the European Union to, "Activate their role through participation in the on going Iraq's construction."

Maliki stressed, "Iraq stands by the peoples' desire to win freedom and realize their demands through peaceful means."

For their part, EU Ambassadors expressed their countries' readiness to cooperate with Iraq in all fields and to support its security and stability.

They asserted their keenness to urge European firms to work in Iraq and participate in its construction, according to the statement.
