DEFENSE MINISTER CONTINUES VISIT TO USA

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ A delegation headed by the Defense Minister of Mongolia L.Bold MP continued the visit to the USA with legs to the U.S. Central Command in Tampa Florida and to the UN Headquarters, New York City.
The Defense Minister has been received by Lieutenant-General John R. Allen, a Deputy Commander of the U.S Central Command. They have shared views on the bilateral relations and cooperation in the defense and on participation of Mongolia's Armed Forces in the Sustainable Freedom operation running in Afghanistan.
During the meeting, Mr. Allen underlined Mongolia has served reputably in military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan under a direct leadership of the U.S Central Command, and still has been serving as a trusted partner. In response, the Defense Minister has pointed out Mongolia has a position to augment its participation in military operations for the global peace and security considering the joint military service of the two countries is the supreme form of the military cooperation.
After the meeting, the delegation got acquainted with the Unified planning command and the Regulation center of coalition military of the U.S Central Command, and participated in a meeting of senior representatives of the Coalition military. The Mongolian MInister has given a report to the gathered about participation of Mongolia's Armed Forces in peacekeeping operations.
On Friday, the Defense Minister held a meeting with Mr. B. Lynn Pascoe, the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations for Political Affairs, in New York city. They have shared thoughts and views on the ties and collaboration between Mongolia and the UN, on the peacekeeping activities led by the UN Political Department. Then the Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations at the UN Mr. Alain Le Roy received L.Bold in New York city and talked with him about the participation of Mongolia in the UN peacekeeping operations, and on policy and activities of Mongolia's defense sector for the peacekeeping mission. The Minister has affirmed a position of Mongolia to enhance a participation of its Armed Forces in the UN peacekeeping operations, and then the sides reached an agreement to have Mongolian peacekeepers and some military techniques take part in related operations.
The Minister has invited Mr. Roy to participate in international conference of peacekeeping operations to be held August of 2011 in Mongolia.
