Iranian blockbuster "kingdom of Solomon” world premiere coming soon
TEHRAN, April 4 (MNA) -- The Iranian religious-themed blockbuster “The Kingdom of Solomon” by director Shahriar Bahrani will have its world premiere in Asian countries and Latin America in the near future.
The film will go on screen in several countries including Turkey and Brazil, producer Mojtaba Faravardeh told the Persian service of MNA.
The big-budget “The Kingdom of Solomon” is produced by the Farabi Cinematic Foundation and features the life of Prophet Solomon (AS) based on narrations from the Holy Quran.
He said that they plan to make two sequels to the film, which depicts slices from the life of Prophet Solomon (AS) but as yet, they have not settled on an exact date for starting production.
According to Faravardeh, the budget spent on the project is 50 billion rials (about $50m). “I believe ‘Kingdom of Solomon’ is the first time a digital film made with the latest modern technology has been produced and shown in the country”, he said in a previous interview.
In early December 2010, “The Kingdom of Solomon” won a best film award for Faravardeh at the Jewar Film Festival, which was held in Baghdad. In addition, Shahriar Bahrani received the best director award for the film at the event.
Starring Amin Zendegani, Hossein Mahjub, Elham Hamidi, and Mehdi Faqih, the movie was the best selling film in the past Iranian calendar year (March 21, 2010-2011).
