BANGKOK, April 4 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva is on an official visit to India on Monday and Tuesday to boost relations and economic cooperation.
Abhisit said India was playing an important role in Southeast Asia as its economy was big. Apart from boosting relations, he will also promote cooperation in other areas, especially in trade, investment and tourism. He said over 800,000 Indian tourists visited Thailand every year.
Abhisit said he will also discuss security-related cooperation to boost security in the region, and facilitate bilateral mechanisms. He believes his meetings with Indian authorities will enhance bilateral cooperation.
The prime minister said continuous bilateral cooperation including a free trade agreement, was promoting Thai exports and the number of Indian visitors to Thailand was also rising.
He will invite Indian investors to do business in Thailand, especially in the construction sector. Thailand will facilitate their investment and reduce non-tariff barriers for Indian investors.
