Russia participates in Hannover Fair

BERLIN, April 4 (Itar-Tass) -- More than 6,500 companies from 65
countries, including Russia, are participating in the Hannover Fair-2011. An opening ceremony of the fair was held in the Lower Saxony capital on Sunday evening.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French Prime Minister Francois
Fillon opened the world largest exposition of technical developments under the motto of the innovation for sustainable growth. France was granted an honorary status of the partner country at the fair this year.
In her speech Angela Merkel called for the development of alternative energy sources, namely the energy of wind, the sun, water and biomass and for the creation of an infrastructure in this sphere. "If we want to enter the epoch of renewable energy sources, we should be ready to take a new vision and search for new ways," she stated. "The residual risk term (in relation to the nuclear power plants) acquired a new important role for the whole world" after a nuclear disaster at the Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant, Merkel noted.
Francois Fillon stated that all French nuclear power plants will
undergo detailed security inspections and gave the instructions to this effect. Proper conclusions will be made in case of any defects at the nuclear power plants, he said. "If some nuclear power plants should be shut down, we will do it," he pointed out.
The Hannover Fair has 24 pavilions spreading on 230,000 square meters. The Hannover Fair, which is to last until April 8, will focus on a higher production energy efficiency, renewable energy sources and electromobiles.
More than 5,000 inventions in machine building, automation, industrial robots and in the energy sector will be presented at the fair.
