Iran-Kuwait FMs talk about misunderstandings

TEHRAN, April 3 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi and his Kuwaiti counterpart Sheikh Mohammad Sabah al-Salem al-Sabah have discussed ways to clear up misunderstandings between the two countries, said Ramin Mehmanparast, the spokesperson of the Iranian Foreign Ministry.

Salehi in his telephone conversation with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammad Sabah al-Salem al-Sabah, discussed the recent allegation, made by a Kuwaiti court, which accused some members of the Iranian embassy in Kuwait of conducting espionage activities in the country.

Salehi said the whole issue was a plot hatched by certain ill-wishers who seek to sabotage the amicable relations between Tehran and Kuwait.

As a principle, Iran never interferes in the internal affairs of other countries, Mehmanparast quoted Salehi as saying.

To exemplify Iran’s stated policy of developing relationship with neighbors including Kuwait, Salehi said Iran opened its doors to Kuwaiti refugees when the Saddam army invaded Kuwait in the summer of 1990.
