Iranian MP reacts to recent Kuwait allegations against Tehran

Tehran, April 3, IRNA – A senior Iranian parliament member said the recent allegations by Kuwait against Iran aimed at distracting the public opinion in regional and Islamic countries from the brutal massacre of people in Bahrain.
Alaeddin Broujerdi who heads the Iranian parliament’s national security and foreign policy commission described Iran’s policies in Kuwait as friendly and said they were based on the principle of expanding bilateral relations.
Talking to IRNA in an exclusive interview on Sunday, he further expressed hope that Kuwait changed its attitude and policies towards Iran according to its own national interests and the situation in the region.
He recommended Kuwaiti officials to remember the fact that Iran was the first country to condemn the attacks to Kuwait when it was occupied by the Saddam army.
Broujerdi also referred to millions-of-dollars strong financial aid of the Kuwaiti government to the Saddam regime during the eight years of war against Iran, stressing that Iran’s support for Kuwait after it was attacked by the Saddam army proved that Iran was against any kind of occupation of the territories of world countries.
The parliamentarian stressed that Iran’s policy regarding the regional countries was based on expansion of policies which stood contrary to the policy followed by the common enemies of the regional countries namely Britain and the US.
A Kuwaiti judiciary official has recently alleged that a spying network run by Iran was discovered in the country. Iran’s foreign ministry officials categorically rejected the allegations, stressing that such remarks were quite irresponsible comments./end
