PLN MUST SAVE RP6.2 TRILLION IN 2009
Jakarta, Aug 267 (ANTARA) - State-owned electricity company PT PLN, based on the 2009 Draft State Budget, is required to save some Rp6.2 trillion in 2009, a senior official said.
"PLN is asked to carry out an efficiency drive so that it would save a total of up to Rp6.2 trillion," Director General for Electricity and Energy Utilization of the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry J Purwono said here on Wednesday.
He said that PLN was expected to save some Rp820 billion from subsidies.
"Besides, PLN is also asked to replace diesel oil with MFO," he added.
On the imposition of non-subsidized power supply rates for customers of less than 6,600 VA, Purwono said that its concept had been provided for in the 2009 draft state budget. This still awaited deliberations by the House of Representatives (DPR).
The imposition of non-subsidized power tariff at present was still similar to this year's revised state budget (APBNP), which was imposed on 6,600 VA customers, he said.
He said that the electricity rate for non-subsidized customers was set based on a presidential decree on electricity basic tariff issued in 2003. No plan has been made to revise this presidential decree.
