Pakistani small traders to boycott US products
KARACHI, March 31, 2011 (PPI): A large number of the traders took to the streets to protest the desecration of the Holy Quran by a US priest, here on Thursday and blocked Main M.A Jinnah Road for two hours.
The protest rally was held under the auspicious of Small Traders of Marriot Road Saddar Town Association. The protest rally started from Bolton Market and marched to the Prize Bond Market. The participants of rally chanted slogans against the government and US priest.
President All Pakistan Small Traders & Cottage Industries Karachi chapter Mehmood Hamid, President Jodia Bazar Traders Association Jaffar Koria, General Secretary Small Traders Association Usama Sharif and others addressed the protesters.
The leaders of trader community in their addresses said that the Government of Pakistan should raise this issue in the United Nation. They demanded punishment to the blasphemer priest.
They announced to boycott of the American’s products and urged traders and people to not purchase or sell the US products.
They also showed concern on not calling a meeting of Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) to chalk out the policy against such incidents.
They also burn effigy of the US priest near Prize Bond Market.
