Cyclone warning for north Kimberley

AAP-April,1-A cyclone warning is in place for coastal and island areas in Western Australia's north Kimberley region from the Mitchell Plateau to the Northern Territory border.
The Bureau of Meteorology in Darwin also reports that a cyclone watch is in place for the Mitchell Plateau southwest to Cockatoo Island.
At 11am (WST) a tropical low was estimated to be 200km west northwest of Darwin and 370km northeast of Kalumburu and moving west at 14km/h away from the coast.
The bureau said the low was expected to turn southwest and develop into a tropical cyclone as it nears the north Kimberley coast on Saturday morning.
It said gales with gusts to 110km/h are expected to develop between Wyndham and the Mitchell Plateau on Saturday morning and may extend inland to Kununurra if the cyclone takes a more southerly track.
Gales may extend further west to Cockatoo Island during Sunday as the cyclone moves further southwest along the northwest Kimberley coast.
The bureau warns that tides will be higher than normal between Wyndham and Kalumburu on Saturday and heavy rain is expected to cause flooding in the north Kimberley region on Saturday and Sunday.
WA's Fire and Emergency Services Authority (FESA) has advised of a low-level blue alert for communities between Kalumburu and Kuri Bay, including the Mitchell Plateau.
It says there is no threat to lives or homes or immediate danger but people need to start preparing for dangerous weather and keep up to date.
