Georgia says prevented terrorist acts in Kutaisi

TBILISI, April 1 (Itar-Tass) -- The Georgian interior ministry said on
Thursday it had prevented a series of terrorist acts planned in the second
biggest city of Kutaisi and detained three suspected nationals.
The ministry said two suspects were living in the Abkhazian town of
Gali, but were detained in Georgia's Zugdidi together with a local
resident.
It identified the suspects as Manuchar Dzadzua, his cousin-brother
Avtandil Dzadzua, and Kalistrate Malania.
The ministry said "explosive hexogen, a detonator and a remote control
mechanism were confiscated from Manuchar Dzadzua."
"The detained said they planned to plant explosives at the building in
Kutaisi that houses the mayor's office and Imereti regional
administration, at the Justice House, and Kutaisi city branch of the
Georgian Labor Party," the ministry said.
Malania assisted Dzadzua brothers in delivering explosives from Gali
to Zugdidi, according to the ministry.
Law enforcers "prevented a well planned, organized and financed
terrorist attack on peaceful objects in Kutaisi," President Mikhail
Saakasvili said at a meeting of the national Security Council.
