Nijaifi, Assad discuss events in the region
Baghdad (NINA) – In a telephone call, Speaker of Parliament, Usama al-Nijaifi, discussed with Syria's President, Bashar al-Assad, the region's developments, in general, and in Syria in particular.
A statement issued on Thursday, Mar. 31, by the Speaker's Office said, "Nijaifi expressed Iraq's concern over the on going events in Syria and their effect on the region as well as their reflection on Iraq."
It added, "Assad asserted to Nijaifi that he has started in carrying out a package of political and economic reforms in Syria, pointing out that things have returned to normal."
The statement pointed out that Assad affirmed to Nijaifi the well being of Iraqi community in Syria.
