PEF launches Skills Development Program
LAHORE, March 31, 2011 (PPI): Punjab Education Foundation PEF has formally launched its Skills Development Program (SDP) from Lahore.
According to this program, out of school deserving up to 20 years old youth will be imparted free training in different professional skills including IT, hostelling, cooking & communication skills improvement besides training of different Technical & Vocational skills. SDP is also aimed to provide trained manpower to the local industry.
This was stated by Chairman Punjab Education Foundation Raja Muhammad Anwar while presiding over a departmental meeting at his office on Thursday. PEF DMD (Ops) Tanvir Ahmad Zaffar, Program Directors and other officers also attended the meeting.
The meeting was told that first batch of ten out of school children belonging to Mominpura, Qalandarpura and Mughalpura localities have been sent on two month course with the COTHM to get training in culinary skills. These students will be taught about different professions and skills relating to hostelling. First batch includes four girls and six boys. After the training, the students will be given certificate in culinary skills.
According to the PEF schedule for SDP training, next batch of students will be sent to leather development Institute, Sialkot for training in leather garments and sports goods, the meeting was further informed.
Raja Anwar expressed the hope that SDP will help to broaden economic future of deserving youth who cannot afford to continue learning due to socio-economic limitations. SDP will go a long way in training of needy youth to face the challenges of the practical life, he concluded.
