Japanese political attaché meets with DSI

BANGKOK, March 31 (TNA) - Nobuaki Ito, the minister of political affairs at the Japanese embassy in Thailand, has met with Tharit Pengdit, director-general of the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), seeking an update on the investigation into the death of Hiroyuki Muramoto, a Japanese cameraman who was killed amid political unrest in Bangkok in April last year.
The meeting comes shortly after an autopsy of the victim's body reportedly showed no evidence that a government official was responsible.
Following the discussion, which took just over an hour, Tharit confirmed that the Royal Thai Police Office has reported these findings to the Thai government and that he will personally discuss the results in full with the attorney-general.
The minister of political affairs of the Japanese embassy did not talk at length but acknowledged that progress is being made on the case as he is duty-bound to take care of Japanese people in Thailand. (TNA)
