President of German Football Association to visit DPRK
PYONGYANG, March 31 (Itar-Tass) -- President of the German Football
Association and member of the Executive Committee of the International
Federation of Football Associations Theo Zwanziger will visit Pyongyang
this week together with a group of politicians and journalists.
According to reports of the regional media, he will make a tour of the
countries which will take part in the Women's Football Championship in
summer this year. Zwanziger will meet with DPRK officials to discuss
possibilities for development of cooperation.
According to him, the forthcoming Women's Football Championship is a
global event which will make a great contribution to mutual understanding
between different countries. He added that he expected with interest a
meeting with friends from the DPRK Football Association. Zwanziger is
accompanied by head of the Organizing Committee of this World Championship
2011.
The delegation has cancelled its visit to Japan where works on
overcoming the effects of the devastating earthquake and tsunami are
underway at present.
The DPRK national team found itself in the same group with footballers
of the United States, Columbia and Sweden at this women's championship.
Germany and North Korea established diplomatic relations in March 2001.
