Police tighten security at embassies, important sites

BANGKOK, March 31 (TNA) - Thailand's Metropolitan Police Division has issued an urgent order for police under its supervision to immediately impose more stringent security measures at foreign embassies and residences of important people in Greater Bangkok as a precaution--amid ongoing rallies by civic groups and violence in the Middle East and the North African region.
The order, which was published on Thursday, said that the move is aimed at preventing ill-intention people from taking the opportunity to incite violent unrest in the capital. The important locations include the Embassies of the United States, Great Britain, Norway, France, Italy, Canada, Spain, United Arab Emirates, Denmark, Qatar, Belgium, and Greece.
Under the order, relevant police units are to coordinate with the authorities of the embassies and the important places on the beefed-up security measures and police forces are to station at the important sites to ensure social order. (TNA)
