BANGKOK, March 31 (TNA) - His Thai Majesty's Ship (HTMS) Chakri Naruebet has evacuated over 700 Thai and foreign tourists safely from Koh Tao off Thailand's resort Surat Thani Province to the Sattahip Port in the eastern Chon Buri Province.

HTMS Chakri Naruebet brought the 753 tourists, including 551 foreigners, from the Tao Island to the Sattahip Port. Local authorities then provided buses and vans to further transport the tourists to their destinations.

First Naval Area commander Vice Admiral Khanat Thongpool said HTMS Chao Phraya was set to take 500 more tourists to the Satthip Port Thursday afternoon. Besides, ships of the Second and the Third Naval Areas are rescuing tourists from other locations.

Meanwhile, Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) officials are helping foreign tourists reserve accommodations pending their departures, including coordinating their flight changes. (TNA)
