STATE SECRETARY VISITING COUNTRIES
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ Mongolia has been awarded a responsibility to lead the Community of Democracies (CD) from 2011 to 2013 years. The chairmanship will be given in July 1 from Lithuania, the current leader of the CD.
In frames of the preparation for it, a delegation led by D.Tsogtbaatar, the state secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is paying visits to Poland, Lithuania and Ukraine. He intends to hold a meeting in the CD's Permanent Secretariat in Warsaw, study experiences of Lithuania in chairing the CD, attend a consultative meeting of the Foreign Ministries of Mongolia and Poland.
On Tuesday, D.Tsogtbaatar met Mr. Michal Safianik, a deputy executive director of the CD's Permanent Secretariat in Warsaw, Poland. Mr Tsogtbaatar has said the government of Mongolia set up a national council led by the Premier S.Batbold to organize the CD's chairmanship and provide it with guidelines. He has added that related working groups have been set up as well comprising officials of NGOs, scholars and specialists.
"It is a great honor for Mongolia to lead the Community of Democracies, one of the outstanding inter-governmental organizations. My country will pay a special attention to cooperation with the member-states, international organizations, NGOs and relevant sides in strengthening the democracy values," Tsogtbaatar has stressed.
The sides have discussed the preparation for accepting the leadership in the CD, further works and measures, and cooperation between Mongolia and the Permanent Secretariat.
The visits to the countries will last until April 1.
