India, Pakistan PMs to shake hands with players before semi-final cricket match
New Delhi, March 29, 2011 (PPI): Cricket diplomacy initiative is making huge strides. Indian officials confirm that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Pakistani counterpart Yusuf Gilani will head to the pitch Wednesday at Mohali stadium to formally shake hands with both cricket teams before India and Pakistan begin what's being described as "the final before the final."
Singh will personally receive Gilani and his entourage at Mohali including several ministers and political leaders on their arrival by a special aircraft.
Ruling Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are accompanying Dr Singh for the match. Dr Singh is also hosting a dinner at the stadium after cricket World Cup semi-final match finishes.
