FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FROM "GRASS ROOTS" PROGRAM

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ Contracts on implementing two projects were signed Monday by Mr. Kidokoro Takuo, the ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Japan to Mongolia, L.Gansukh, the Minister of Environment and Tourism, and by G.Erdenebaatar, governor of Darkhan-Uul aimag.
Implemented in frames of the Grass Roots-Ensuring Human Safety program of Japan's government, a financial assistance of MNT 243 million (USD 202,687) will be given to Mongolia for planting trees to protect environment in Darkhan soum, Darkhan-Uul aimag, and for repairing a building of the 1 kindergarten of this soum.
During the signing ceremony, L.Gansukh and G.Erdenebaatar expressed sympathies for the loss of many lives and properties in Japan due to natural disasters occurred March 11.
The Grass Roots-Ensuring Human Safety program aims to give direct benefits to the people of developing countries, and to render assistance to these countries based on consumption of the people. Since the year 1990, Mongolia has received assistance of over USD 20 million for 359 projects in a scope of this program.
