Erdoğan in Parliament: Turkey wants unified Iraq that preserves peace


Baghdad (NINA) - Turkey's Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, said, "Turkey wants a unified Iraq that preserves peace and provides prosperity to its people and the region."

In a speech to Iraq's law makers on Monday, Mar. 28, Turkey's Prime Minister said, "We stand at equal distant from all Iraqi sides and support all Iraqis regardless of their religion or sect and work for the good to prevail all of Iraq."

He expressed his country's readiness to, "Provide full support to the government and help solving the problems in all fields, as well as to share its expertise in all reforms that Iraq seeks to through consolidating the relations between the parliaments of Iraq and Turkey."

Erdoğan announced that he will visit Sistani on Tuesday then goes to Erbil to inaugurate some projects, stressing that Turkey does not wish for a terrorist organization hamper its relations with Iraq, which requires joint work in combating this organization.

He continued, "Parliament represents Iraq, it shoulders Iraq's responsibilities at the same time. Any law enacted here determines the future of the Iraqis, we feel proud for being in a parliament that takes honest steps toward democracy and is elected by the people; I congratulate the Iraqis for distance accomplished on the road to democracy."

Turkey's Prime Minister went on saying that Iraq's security and prosperity means security and prosperity for Turkey; our hearts were being broken when bombs used to fall on Baghdad; we do not want other massacres take place in Iraq. / End.
