Najaf officials and citizens welcome Erdogan visit
Najaf (NINA) – Preparations are underway in the city of Najaf to receive the Turkish Premier, Recep Tayeb Erdogan, and the accompanying delegation due to visit the city Tuesday, March 29, to hold meetings with its clerics and local officials.
Head of the Public Relations Committee of the Najaf Council, Jawad AL Garaawi, told NINA correspondent today “security situation is stable; the city is prepared to receive any official from inside and outside Iraq.”
“Officials from Najaf will hold meetings with members of the Turkish delegation to discuss development of Najaf-Turkey relations in economic and cultural domains, especially that Najaf is about to be Capital of Islamic Culture for 2012,” he added.
Jamal Salih Ali, political analyst, told NINA “the visit is important to discuss the water and trade dossiers between Iraq and turkey,” calling for expanding agricultural cooperation and fairly distribute water with neighboring countries.
