Nation protests against desecration

LAHORE (PPI) - A countrywide protest was held on Friday against the desecration of the Holy Quran by a devilish American pastor, on the appeal of the Jamaat e Islami chief, Syed Munawar Hasan.

The Ulema and scholars addressing Friday congregations at mosques, condemned pastor Terry Jones’ blasphemous act and called upon the Muslim world to lodge strong protest on this score in the UN General Security Council.

Speakers addressing protest rallies demanded that Terry Jones be hanged for disrupting world peace and the US envoy in the country be expelled immediately as persona non grata. Protest rallies were held in big and small cities and towns.

Syed Munawar Hasan, addressing a huge gathering at Jamia, ul-Uloom, Multan, said that the US was heading for a clash of civilizations and was bent upon destroying world peace. He said, pastor Terry Jones was indulging in blasphemy on Pentagon’s bidding because the west had been maddened by the increasing trend of the western public towards Islam and the Quran.

However, he said, the western powers would not be able to contain this tide by desecrating the Quran and profanity of the Holy Prophet as the humanity in search of peace and happiness would ultimately find refuge in the Holy Prophet of Islam.

Speaking on the occasion, JI Secretary General, Liaquat Baloch, said that if the US failed to take appropriate action against Terry Jones, the whole world could be in flames and the US and Europe too won’t be safe.

JI central leader, Hafiz Muhammad Idrees, addressing the Juma congregation a t Syed Maudoodi Institute, said the US pastor’s act was unpardonable and this should make the world realise as to who are the terrorists. He however believed that such nefarious acts would only make the western people to study the Quran which in turn would win over their hearts. Hafiz Muhammad Idrees noted that even Pakistani.

Christians had condemned the incident which was appreciable. In Islamabad, a protest rally was held at Aabpara which was led by the deputy chief, JI Punjab, Mian Muhammad Aslam and JI Rawalpindi chief, Sajjad Abbasi. Rallies were also staged at Sargodha, Sahiwal, Okara, D.G.Khan, Pakpattan.

In the Punjab capital, a protest rally was held at Multan Road. The JI Lahore chief, Amirul Azeem, while addressing the rally, said that Terry ones was neither a Christian nor a pastor, he was a CIA and White House agent who was making calculated efforts to plunge the world in a war so that the US could sell its arms and ammunition.

He said the US was avenging its defeat in Afghanistan by killing innocent and peaceful citizens and also by profaning the Holy Prophet. Holy Prophet, PBUH). He said the drone manufacturing US company was selling its drones after spending billions on publicity so as to remove every hurdle in the US expansionist designs.

In the Sindh province, rallies were held at Karachi, Hyderabad, Nawabshah, Sukkur and several other towns. The Karachi rally was led by senior JI leader Prof. Ghafoor Ahmed and JI Karachi chief, Muhammad Husain Mehanti.

In Baluchistan, protest rallies were held at Dhob, Mandokhel, Khuzdar, Noshki, and Chaman, Lasbella, and Panjgur.

In Khyber P, rallies were held at Nowshera, Buner, Swat, Kohat where the speakers demanded that Terry Jones be hanged for desecration of the Quran. They also called for severing all ties with the US.
