Fawad expects a narrow Pakistan semifinal triumph

Islamabad (PPI): Pakistan Test cricketer Fawad Alam said that Pakistan would eventually win the semifinal match against arch-rival India, however, the later would put a stiff resistance before being overpowered.

“Pakistan cricket team has been in great form throughout the tournament. They have beaten Sri Lanka at their home-ground and they have also defeated Australia. In quarters, they have thrashed West Indies. All these performances make me believe that they would beat India in the semifinal,” Pakistan’s young Test cricketer Fawad Alam told PPI.

However, the batting all-rounder added that India has also excelled in several matches especially in the quarterfinal match against defending champions Australia and therefore they would put a stiff resistance.

“I expect a close encounter and hopefully Pakistan would eventually win. But cricket is quite unpredictable and the team who handles the pressure well would win the important match,” he added.

He further said that playing against India always put a big pressure on the team and it would be multiplied manifold considering the fact that it would be a semifinal match.

However, he added that India would also have to handle comparative pressure during the match or even more.

“Pakistan would be under pressure, however, India would also have to handle equal pressure or even more,” 25-year-old Fawad, who has played three Tests and 20 ODIs for Pakistan, added.

Pakistan faces India in the semifinal match on 30th March in Mohali, India.
