Kazakhstan ready to host Winter Olympic Games 2022

ASTANA (Itar-Tass) - Kazakhstan offers to hold the Winter
Olympic Games 2022 in its two cities - - Astana and Almaty, Minister of
Tourism and Sports of the republic Temirkhan Dosmukhambetov said speaking
at the lower chamber of the parliament on Monday.
According to Dosmukhambetov, in this case, the republic is ready to
host the Olympic Games at any time. They will need only to build an
Olympic village and a bobsled track. He noted that sport facilities built
in two cities which host the Winter Asian Games 2011 correspond to the
necessary requirements. The minister explained that President of the
International Olympic Committee (IOC) Jacques Rogge and President of the
Olympic Council of Asia sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, who visited these
facilities, "also said that Kazakhstan was ready to hold the Games."
If the IOC doesn't allow to organize the Olympic Games in two cities,
then Kazakhstan will offer Almaty as a venue of their holding, since there
are no conditions for holding mountain skiing competitions in Astana. In
this case, Kazakhstan will have to build a great number of facilities in
the city.
