Governor of Basra, German Ambassador discuss German firms participation in construction of Basra

Basra (NINA) – Acting Governor of Basra, Nizar al-Jabiri, discussed with German Ambassador to Iraq, Carl George Christian Berger, the possibilities for German firms to participate in the province's construction projects.

In a statement to NINA, Jabiri said that the meeting, which was attended by Chairman of the Province's Council, Jabbar Ameen Jabir, the possibility for German businessmen and firms to invest in the province's economy and the importance of their participation in the Businessmen Conference scheduled to be held in Basra on the 15th of April.

Jabiri pointed out that in the meeting, Ambassador Berger renewed his country's desire to participate in executing a number of projects in the province, including dams for agricultural projects.

For his part, the German Ambassador said that his government plans to send in mid April a trade and economic delegation to discuss a frame of cooperation with the province's local government and how Germany can participate in the reconstruction of Basra, pointing out that the delegation will consist of 20 persons specialized in economy and investment. / End.
