Iraq participates in meeting on smuggling, human trafficking

Baghdad (NINA) – Iraq has participated in preparatory meeting of the 4th ministerial meeting on smuggling, human trafficking and related transnational crimes held in Bali, Indonesia.

A statement issued on Sunday, Mar. 27, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, "Iraq's Ambassador in Djakarta, Shafeeq Mohsin, took part in the preparatory meeting of the 4th ministerial meeting on smuggling, human trafficking and related transnational crimes held in Bali, Indonesia, with the participation of official delegations from a number of countries and the The UN High Commissioner for Refugees and the International Organization for Migration."

It added, "In his speech before the meeting, Ambassador Mohsin asserted Iraq's keenness on taking part in such meetings and supports all recommendations issued by them."

The meeting evaluated the activities and achievements realized by the ministerial 3rd Conference held in 2009; it also discussed many issues, mainly human trafficking being an issue that concerns the region's countries and increased efforts to combat smuggling. / End.
