Kim Jong-Il calls on directors to stage more comedies
PYONGYANG, March 27 (Itar-Tass) - North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il
viewed the "Echo in Mountains" play, staged by a new state drama theatre
built in Pyongyang.
The play describes an event in the light comedy genre about an
agricultural cooperative society in the 1960s, the KCNA news agency
reported on Sunday.
According to the news agency, the general secretary of the Korean
Workers Party and chairman of the State Defence Committee congratulated
actors on the successful presentation of the play. According to the North
Korean leader, this production should become "a handbook" for the North
Korean army and people.
He also pointed to doubtless merits of the theatre company and called
on directors to produce more comedies on its stage.
The North Korea leader was accompanied by his junior son Kim Jong-Un
who is deputy chairman of the central military committee (headed by his
father) of the Korean Worker's Party, chief of the general staff of the
Korean People's Army and other officials.
