Talabani, Nejad discuss means to consolidate bilateral relations

Baghdad (NINA) – President Jalal Talabani, who is currently in a visit to Iran, discussed with Iran's President Mahmood Ahmadi Nejad of Iran the relations between Iraq and Iran.

A statement issued on Saturday, Mar. 26, by the President's Office said, "Talabani praised Iran's stance in supporting the Iraqis, stressing that Iraq looks forward toward establishing long term strategic relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran."

For his part, President Nijad pointed out to the historic and cultural relations between Iran and Iraq, expressing Iran's readiness to exert all its efforts, experience and capabilities to help Iraq's develop and its reconstruction scheme.

Earlier in the day, Talabani arrived in Tehran to participate in the festival of Nowruz Gala scheduled to start on Sunday. / End.
