Reds blitz Cheetahs 41-8

AAP- March,26-The Queensland Reds blitzed the Cheetahs 41-8 for a record seventh straight home victory to cement their place at the top of Super Rugby's Australian conference on Saturday.
Wallabies halfback Will Genia and winger Rod Davies both crossed twice as the Reds scored six tries to one at Suncorp Stadium to move to the top of the competition ladder midway through round six.
The win was their seventh in a row in Brisbane and eighth at Suncorp Stadium, which is becoming the fortress it is for Queensland's State of Origin rugby league team.
After upsetting NSW with their first-ever overseas win last weekend, the Cheetahs came back to earth with a thud as they failed to cope with the Brisbane heat and the Reds' high-tempo game.
Ex-NSW flanker Beau Robinson celebrated his contract-sealing fifth Reds game with a man-of-the-match display to nullify Springbok breakdown threat Heinrich Brussow.
Genia and Test halves partner Quade Cooper pulled all the strings while both Davies and fellow winger Digby Ioane were constant threats out wide as they ended their 2011 try droughts.
While Queensland kept the 19,579-strong crowd entertained with numerous line breaks and some audacious razzle-dazzle, they were wasteful by bombing almost as many tries as they scored.
They now head to South Africa for a two-match trip with 94 points under their belts in a fortnight following the record 53-3 thrashing of the Melbourne Rebels.
On a 27-degree afternoon, the Cheetahs wilted in the sun as the free-running Reds stretched their fitness and defence in a punishing 22-minute period before the break.
Queensland piled on 29 points to collect a four-try bonus point before halftime after being held scoreless for the first quarter-hour.
With Genia and Cooper back to their scheming and probing best with quick front-foot ball, the Cheetahs failed to reproduce the impregnable defence they showed in last week's 23-3 boilover of the Waratahs.
They opened thescoring with a 13th-minute penalty goal but Queensland's dominance of possession and territory took their toll.
The Reds' spark came from a piece of fortune with a lofted pass by hooker Saia Faingaa bouncing past two teammates before Ioane pounced, produced a menacing fend and strolled over from 20m.
Fellow winger Davies then followed his lead with back-to-back five-pointers.
While his first was a simple finish of some precision counter-attack, his second was the sort of try which would please Wallabies coach Robbie Deans as he blitzed three cover defenders for pace on the sideline and then muscled over.
But he did blot his copybook in the dying stages by butchering a certain hat-trick by dropping a Cooper pass cold with the line wide open.
