Tripodi blames media for NSW ALP downfall

AAP- March,26-Outgoing NSW Labor MP and minister Joe Tripodi says the media has been unfair to the Labor government and played a big part in its downfall.
"I don't think the media have been doing the Labor Party any favours since the election of Morris Iemma as premier," he told Sky News on Saturday.
"I think from that point on, both in the last state election and in this state election, they have played a very big role."
Mr Tripodi accused the media of overplaying the state's missteps, saying it was never as bad as portrayed.
"If anyone did bother to read newspapers for the last two or three years .. you wouldn't think you were living in one of the best places in the world, you would be thinking you were were living in some place like Calcutta," he said.
"The reality is the way NSW is being described is not supported by the facts.
"Australia generally and NSW in particular has been run very well."
Mr Tripodi has retired as MP for the Sydney seat of Fairfield in this election.
