Man charged with Palm Island murder

AAP - March,26 - A man has been charged with murdering a woman on Palm Island, off north Queensland.
Officers were called to a disturbance about 12.20am (AEST) on Saturday when they found a 53-year-old woman unconscious, police said.
She was taken to the local hospital where she died a short time later.
Police have since charged a 54-year-old man with murder.
Deputy Commissioner Ross Barnett said the woman had been stabbed, and would not comment on her relationship to the man.
The Palm Island man will appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on Monday.
