Former US president Carter to visit Cuba next week to discuss

MEXICO CITY, March 26 (Itar-Tass) -- The 39th President of the United
States, Jimmy Carter, is to visit Cuba next week, where he will discuss
issues of establishing bilateral relations, the spokeswoman for the Carter
Center fund, Deanna Congilio said on Friday.
The schedule of this private visit includes a meeting with the
chairman of the State Council and the Council of Ministers of Cuba Raul
Castro and other members of the leadership and public figures.
According Congilio, the purpose of the visit, which will last several
days, is to study the new economic policy of Cuba and ways to improve
US-Cuban partnership.
Carter's previous visit to Cuba was in May 2002. During his term he
worked to improve relations between the U.S. and Cuba.
