Two girls’ primary schools blown up in Khyber

Peshawar, March 25, 2011 (PPI): Two government girls’ primary schools were destroyed on Thursday night at 2 am in Sultan Khel area in Khyber Landikotal. Unidentified enemies of education had put powerful explosive material inside the buildings of the two government girls’ primary schools known as Haji Hukum Kham and Awal Syed villages in Sultan Khel area of Khyber that collapsed the apartments of the schools from top to bottom.

The adjacent houses of the tribal people were miraculously saved from the big blasts that shook the whole area. In both girls’ schools there were four rooms and two verandahs that were blown up completely.

More than eight hundred minor girls of the area were daily attending these two schools who were found weeping when they saw the schools destroyed in the morning on Friday. The books were also found scattered while the furniture had come under the debris.

The local people gathered on the sites of the schools strongly condemned the blasts inside the schools and said it was a deep rooted conspiracy against the tribal people to push their new generations into the darkness of ignorance and illiteracy. They also said that it was the basic duty of security forces and administration to protect the public properties including government schools, which they don’t care.

The local tribesmen also demanded of the government to construct the buildings of the schools so that they kids and kens could not suffer educationally. The administration arrested two watchmen of the schools identified as Nazar Sher and Inam Shah. So far forty three government schools have been blown up in Khyber Agency whereas the number of the destroyed schools has reached to sixteen.
