Turkey an important partner, US says
WASHINGTON (A.A) - 25.03.2011 - The U.S. Department of State said on Thursday that Turkey is an important partner regarding the developments in Libya.
"Turkey's been an important partner in this process," Mark Toner, the acting deputy department spokesman, told a daily press briefing.
Toner said the United States remained closely in touch with Turkey.
Moreover, White House press secretary Jay Carney said, "We are discussing with the Turkish government, regularly consulting on this issue."
Both remarks came after Turkish parliament adopted a government motion allowing the Turkish Armed Forces to send troops to Libya to contribute to efforts aiming to ensure stability in that country.
