National Council, Supreme Committee for water headed by Maliki

Baghdad (NINA) – Supreme Committee for Agricultural Initiative endorsed on Thursday forming a National Council for Water following the formation of a Supreme National Committee for Water headed by Prime Minister, Nouri Al Maliki, a statement issued by the cabined mentioned.
It added “Maliki headed in his office last night a meeting for the Initiative Committee, present by minister of Water Resources and minister of Agriculture, head of the advisors commission, and executive manager of the Initiative.”
“Maliki, stressed during the meeting, on the importance of increasing cooperation between the ministries to carry out the projects, exert utmost efforts and support in the technical sides of the agricultural process,” the statement went on saying.
The meeting tackled drilling wells in the provinces to provide water for date palms, as well as coming out with methods possible to deal with water shares violations inside provinces and among each other. It also discussed numbering the cattle and laying a proper mechanism for that.
The meeting discussed also the use of modern integrated insecticide, easing the farmers’ debts, and the use of modern machinery in agriculture and water resources.
Maliki proposed encouraging every Iraqi family on planting a date palm or olive tree on the anniversary of the Agriculture Week and Arbor Day, the statement concluded.
