Russia-China philatelist week on first manned spaceflight opens
BEIJING, March 24 (Itar-Tass) -- Russia and China should step up the
cooperation in space technologies and the peaceful space exploration,
Deputy Director General of the Chinese Corporation of Aerospace Science
and Technologies Li Jinsheng said at an opening ceremony of the
Russian-Chinese philatelist week dedicated to the 50th anniversary of Yuri
Gagarin's first manned spaceflight at the Russian Cultural Center here on
Thursday.
"Russia and China are cooperating actively in the space technologies,
particularly the countries have regular meetings of the bilateral
sub-commission for the cooperation in this sphere," Li Jinsheng noted. "We
are developing the joint projects for the research and peaceful
exploration" of the outer space, he added.
"The philatelist exhibition, which put on display the collections of
the stamps that tell about the development of the space industry in the
countries will promote the spread of the knowledge about the space and the
history of the space exploration and the consolidation of friendly ties
between Russia and China," Li said.
Various exhibitions will be held and the documentaries and fiction
movies will be showed and the meetings with Russian cosmonauts will be
held in China as part of the celebrations on the occasion of the 50th
anniversary of the first manned spaceflight this year.
