“House Dissolution date still unconfirmed” says Thai Deputy Prime Minister

BANGKOK, March 23 (TNA) - According to Deputy Prime Minister Sethep Thaugsuban , The Thai government has still not pin-pointed house dissolution date and confirmed that the date released yesterday was based on early speculation.

On Wednesday, the House of Representatives will consider the drafts of 3 organic laws on the election of MPs. If they are passed before April, the Election Commission will then be able to decide on an exact house dissolution date. Suthep insisted that the order of events chosen was not intended to pressure the parliament to hurry passing the laws but to make sure that everything is ready for the new election, especially with matters concerning electoral districts.

He refused to make any comment on the election strategy of Puea Thai Party Chairman General Chavalit Yongchaiyudh, who seeks to bring ousted Thai politicians back to Thailand, in particular Mr. Thaksin Shinnawatra. He did say however, that the opposition will not affect his own party’s strategy for the election campaign and it is still up to the people to decide which MP they want to vote for. (TNA)
