Global Technology symposium to open in Menlo Park Wed

MENLO PARK (USA), March 23 (Itar-Tass) - An annual, 8th , Global
Technology symposium that opens in the famous Silicon Valley (California)
on Wednesday is dedicated to comparing experience in establishing
innovation centers in Russia, China, India, and other countries and to
identifying the latest technology trends in the world.
The Symposium tradiitonally draws about 300 most eminent
representatives of hi-tech companies, venture foundations, research and
educational institutions. This year the"geographical cross-section" of
participants is unusually wide: Americans who play host to guests from
Russia, among them those from Tatarstan, as well as from India, China,
Brazil, United Arab Emirates, and Poland.
Silicon Valleys of the World is the main subject of discussion.M uch
attention will be devoted to Russia and to the project for the
establishment of a Skolkovo innovation center. The project has entered the
phase of practical implementation.
Symposium organizers regard this theme as highly important and
all-embaracing. This is why they have given prominence to a Day of Russia
to discuss it on a week-day. Discussions will be crowned with the
presentation of the Global Innovator award.
During the other days of the Symposium proceedings participants will
exchange opinions about the present state of venture business, touch upon
the problem of intellectual property, and seek to determine the newest
technological trends for themselves.
Organizers hope for a ptoductive dialogue that will make it possible
to lay groundwork for concrete steps for a year ahead. Herein is one of
the forum's tasks.
The forum was instituted in 2004 under the name of Russia-US
technological symposium. It was then renamed into a global one. It wss
established with an eye to the future. Over the years that have passed
since it has developed into a high-level platform intended for
get-togethers primarily of Russian and American businessmen who work in
the field of innovations.Traditionally the Symposium is held in the
grounds of the famous Stanford University which at one time became the
cradle of the Silicon Valley.
Invited to participate in the forum are not only hi-tech executives
and legislators but also officials of government ministries and agencies.
This year's invitees will be Ivan Oskolkov, head of the corporate
development department of the Russian Ministry of Economic Development,
and Judith Mchale, US Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy. Their
partners for the dialogue will be representatives of the Skolkovo
Foundation, ROSNANO Corp., the Russian Venture Company, Microsoft, Sisco
Systems, IBM, Hewlett-Packard, Stanford and Massachusetts Universities of
Technology.
The Symposium is to run for three days. Along with the main program,
particularly in the intervals between speeches and roundtable meetings,
contacts are established and acquaintanceships are struck up. These
eventually develop into close partnership relations.
