Gazprom contemplates additional LNG deliveries to Japan

LJUBLJANA, March 23 (Itar-Tass) - Gazprom is ready to supply 60-70
million cubic metres of gas to Europe via pipeline in exchange for
additional deliveries of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Japan, Gazprom CEO
Alexei Miller told journalists here on Tuesday.
"We say that we could additionally supply 60-70 million cu. m. of gas
to the European market via pipeline. This additional amount could be
exchanged for LNG, which is supplied to European markets, so that it would
be possible to take it away from the European market and deliver to
Japan," he said.
In so doing Miller pointed out that this is a matter not only of
technical possibilities but of preparedness of LNG suppliers that operate
on the European market to do that. "The technical aspect of the deliveries
of addiitonal amounts (of LNG) is clear and understandable to us. We are
now getting down to the elaboration of a commercial component," he said,
adding that it is so far too early to speak of specific accords.
