Oct ecological forum to deal with green economics

VLADIVOSTOK, March 23 (Itar-Tass) - The 5th international ecological
forum "Nature Without Borders" is to be held here in October this year.
Its main theme will be a transition to green economics in the Asia-Pacific
Region.
An official at the Primorsky (maritime) Territory department for
natural resources and environmental protection told Itar-Tass on Wednesday
that participants in the forum would discuss the development of
ecological tourism, a rise in energy efficiency, an improvement of
drinking water supply, international and interregional cooperation in
developing green economics.
The October forum will begin with an exhibition of ecological
projects in preparation for the 2012 summit of the Asia-Pacific Economic
Cooperation (APEC). Those will include the construction and upgrading of
purifying installations for Vladivostok, the recultivation of old and
building of new landfills for solid household refuse.
The Nature Without Borders ecological forum was last held here in
October 2009. It drew more than 400 representatives of state power bodies
of Russia, international organizations, scientists, and diplomats from
China, Vietnam, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Japan, and the
United States. Those attending the forum discussed marine ecology, and the
ecological component of the 2012 APEC summit.
