Mironov to visit Brussels to discuss relations, coop'n with EU

BRUSSELS, March 23 (Itar-Tass) - Russia-Belgium relations, and the
parliamentary dimension of cooperation with the European Union will be the
main subjects of discussion during the upcoming visit here by Sergei
Mironov, Speaker of the Federation Council upper house of the Russian
parliament, who arrives in Brussels on Wednesday.
Within the framework of talks in Brussels, Mironov is also expected
to discuss the situation in Libya and the current military operation being
conducted in that country. Belgium sent out six F-16 aircraft to take part
in that operation.
While in Brussels, Mironov is to meet with Danny Pieters, President of
the Belgian Senate, Andre Flahaut, Speaker of the Chamber of
Representatives, as well as Herman de Croo, leader of the parliamentary
Group for Friendship with Russia.
The Belgian side attaches much importance to Mironov's visit which is
made on the eve of a trip to Russia by an economic mission led by Crown
Prince Philippe. The trip is due to begin on April 3. This theme will be
touched upon during talks with Belgian acting Prime Minister Yves Leterme.
Within the scope of the European part of the tour, Mironov is planning
to meet with Martin Schulz, leader of the faction of the Socialists at the
European Parliament.
