FC to examine Fri a bill on indexation of social pensions

MOSCOW, March 23 (Itar-Tass) - The Federation Council upper house of
the Russian parliament will hold an extraordinary meeting on Friday, March
25, to examine a bill changing the procedure for the indexation of social
pensions, an FC press service official has told Itar-Tass.
The State Duma lower house of parliament on Tuesday passed the bill
both in the first reading and as a whole, for indexation is to be effected
from April 1.
FC Speaker Sergei Mironov told journalists, "The Federation Council
will not let the pensioners down". Considering "the tremendous social
significance of this arrangement, the House, just like the State Duma,
will consider the bill as a priority," he added.
Valentina Petrenko, head of the FC committee on social policy and
health care, has said the Committee fully supports the changes in the Law
on the Provision of Pensions by the State in the Russian Federation and
will recommend the House to approve the bill.
