Russian rescuers end mission in quake-stricken Japan

MOSCOW, March 22 (Itar-Tass) - Rescuers of the Russian Emergency
Situations Ministry (EMERCOM) have ended their mission in Japan. They will
return home on Tuesday, head of the consular department of the Russian
embassy in Tokyo Sergei Kastornov told ITAR-TASS.
"On agreement with the Japanese side, it was decided to conclude works
of EMERCOM rescuers in the zone of the earthquake," he said. "There is no
special need in their further stay here since they have fulfilled their
main task - - to render aid in searching for alive people under debris and
deploy mobile hospitals." "The situation in the disaster zone is
stabilizing," the Russian diplomat added.
As Sergei Kastonov said, the first plane with 50 rescuers of the Far
Eastern detachment has already departed from the Tokyo international
airport Narita. The second plane is being boarded now, and the third one
will land in the Japanese capital soon.
