Top envoy seeks progress on death of Japanese journalist during Thailand's unrest 2010

BANGKOK, March 22 (TNA) - Japan's top envoy to Thailand for political affairs, Nobuyaki Ito, met the Thai Deputy National Police Chief Police General Ek Angsananont at the latter's office Tuesday morning to seek progress on an official investigation into what caused the death of a Japanese journalist during Bangkok's political unrest of April-May 2010.

After the one-hour meeting, Police General Ek said that he had told the Japanese envoy that evidence has been gathered and submitted to Thailand's Department of Special Investigation (DSI).

Police General Ek revealed that he had also told the Japanese envoy the Thai government is still working on the case and others stemming from last year's political violence, including those of all the Thai fatalities.

He also stated that the Japan's top diplomat for political affairs, who has sought progress on the case from the Thai police for the second time, thanked the Thai authorities who have paid attention to the case. (TNA)
