Radiation level in all Far Eastern regions within norm

KHABAROVSK, March 20 (Itar-Tass) - The radiation background in all
Russian Far Eastern regions on Sunday, as was the case on previous days, remains within the norm, Itar-Tass learnt on Sunday in the Far Eastern regional branch of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies.
"Not a single out of 560 control posts recorded above the natural
level of gamma-radiation. According to monitoring data, the radiation
background in various subjects of the Russian Federation is between 11 and 18 microroentgens per hour with the norm of 25-30 microroentgens," the ministry's centre specified.
For instance, the radiation level in Khabarovsk was 11 microroentgens per hour this morning, stated the local branch of the Ministry for Emergencies.
Specialists of the weather service, Rospotrebnadzor, the Ministry for Emergencies and other departments conduct the monitoring of the radiation situation in the Far East. They examine, above all, the state of air and water. Coastguard ships, research and other vessels exercise control on high seas.
The round-the-clock monitoring of the radiation background in the
Russian Far East is conducted in connection with the disaster at the
Japanese Fukushima-1 nuclear power station.
Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, speaking at a meeting in
Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk of the radiation situation in the Far East, demanded
maintaining control over the radiation background in the region as well as controlling cargoes and people, coming from Japan
