No radiation level rise in Primorye in week
VLADIVOSTOK, March 20 (Itar-Tass) -- No excess of background radiation
has been recorded in Primorye as of 09:00 local time (02:00 Moscow time)
on Sunday. The radiation level is 14 micro-roentgens an hour, while the
normal gamma-ray background in the territory is up to 30 mR/h, the press
service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry's regional department told
Itar-Tass.
Over the week of increased monitoring since March 12, the radiation
background in the region has never exceeded the norm, the press secretary
of the regional hydro-meteorological centre, Varvara Koridze, said.
She also noted that every day at the station of Sadgorod in
Vladivostok's suburbs, samples of atmospheric aerosols were taken, and
over all the time of the monitoring, no technical-origin radionuclides
were found.
Increased radiometric monitoring in the territory is conducted by
specialists of the regional environmental monitoring service and the
laboratory of the federal human health control service Rospotrebnadzor.
The data are published online on the websites of the Emergencies Ministry'
s regional department, on which the detector readings are broadcast.
A hot line is also opened in the region to receive information about
the Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant accident and psychological
consultations, Specialists who answer the calls say that most of the
questions are about departure of friends or relatives from Japan.
